Hello! You can call me Nick, Niko, or simply Juice!
I'm 25 years old, coming from around Dallas, Texas and now living in the countryside of Germany with my friend's family. I started learning German in late 2020 and am hoping to pursue a career here in social work.
I taught myself how to knit around age 8 using Youtube tutorials, but didn't really get serious about it until 20. After knitting a pigeon for my friend my knitting enthusiasm was even further invigorated, and I began exploring interests in spinning, dyeing, and weaving.
Since I just moved across the world, I'm a bit short on tools and notions at the moment! I have a 3D printed niddy noddy, spinning wheel, and rigid heddle loom, although the last two aren't currently assembled. For all three of these, I downloaded the Thingiverse files and had them printed at my local library (which had a makerspace program), but if you don't have access to a program like this or your own printer there are plenty of services online that can print for you. I plan on soon outlining the cost efficiency of my 3D printed tools vs commercial counterparts.
3D printed things aside, I currently only have two drop spindles and a small assortment of circular needles and DPNs. I'd love to get an interchangable circular set for my birthday, but I'm still doing research to see which set would work best for me.
I also have an amateur interest in small web and tech-y stuff. Those might be linked on my Projects page in the future. If you only want to see textile projects, go check out the Gallery where you can hover over an image to see a larger version or click on the image to be taken directly to its corresponding project page.
